Unacceptable Use Policy

GeeksIRC is a chat network that is oriented for anyone. We have gamer, technology, community, and personal channels.

The following is not acceptable on this network:

  • File Server Channels
  • Racism and/or hate speech
  • ISOs (Illegal copyrighted material)
  • Torrent Listings
  • MP3s/VCD (Illegal copyrighted material)
  • Warez (Illegal copyrighted material)
  • Pornography or adult material (unless in a channel marked +p)

Note: The list includes channels that are related to or sponsored by websites that break this unacceptable use policy.

General Conduct

While we try not to police our users, we do ask that you observe the following courtesy’s.

  • Do not harrass network staff or users.
  • Treat other users and network staff with respect.
  • Do not cause any action that will disrupt the network.
  • Do not subject others (users or channels) to unwanted or excessive spam/advertisements, or inappropriate/harmful URLs.

If, while you are on GeeksIrc, you have an issue with another user or staff member, please speak to a staff member in #motherboard.

Registered Names

User nicknames can be registered using the ChanServ on GeeksIRC.

Please keep your nickname appropriate and do not include the following:

  • Racism
  • Sexually-Explicit
  • Religious or Political
  • Profanity
  • Harrassment

General Channel Policies

  • If your channel name or topic include profanity please set the channel mode as +s.
  • Please do not create a channel to publically attack a group or user.
  • Please do not advertise to users or in channels without the channel owner’s permission.

NOTE: Advertisement of any service, network, or URL may only be done in channels in which you’re on the staff list or with the channel owner or staff’s permission. /msg and /notice advertisements directly to users (this includes mass or multiple channel /INVITEs) are forbidden.

General Network Channel Policies

Please do not:

  • 1. Use bots or auto-response/announce scripts without approval from network staff
  • 2. Use profanity or suggestive/adult oriented language
  • 3. Spam or use excessive caps
  • 4. Post inappropriate, illegal and/or harmful URLs
  • 5. Evade the channel filters or “bait” the bots
  • 6. Use offensive or disruptive Nicknames, you will get kicked/banned without notice

GeeksIRC attempts to have a non-interference policy with channels not run or moderated by our staff. However, we have a low tolerance for people that abuse the use of this network and its related services. Causing trouble in public or private channels can result in a ban from the entire network – both for you and potentially for your entire ISP. If you wish to use this IRC network, you agree to the above rules and policies, and any others that may be posted on this website.

Bot Policy

The staff of GeeksIRC would like that all bot nicks are in a group of there own and with a vhost stating that they are a bot and the bot’s owner. Preferably something similar to Pyro!lamest@eggdrop.Pyro.owner.Radien.

Bots also have to be marked as a bot by typing /mode *botnick* +B or join #motherboard if you have a different type of bot to learn how to get it marked correctly.

Proxy Scanning

Connecting to GeeksIRC Network will subject you to a legal, open Proxy scan.

Pursuant to United States Code (U.S.C.), Title 18, Part 1, Section 2701 Part(c) – we reserve the right to scan your system to ensure that your connection does not provide a network or security risk to us, our servers, or our users.
